After All of the help. I made some decisions for my instrumentation.

Pit Only Music:
3 Marimba
3 Vibraphone
1 Rack, maybe 2
4 Timpani

Winter Guard Stuff:
2 Marimba
2 Vibraphone
2 Racks
4 Timpani

If you wanna keep posting cool, but I've got what I need. Thanks all.

[edit]I may use other stuff, but all pit's have the rest so it'll be irrelevant.

no xylophone? xylophones are probably the most important pit instrument. They provide most of the sound.

The xylo certainly does provide a ton of sound, but it may also overpower some of the pit or cut through too much of the horn sound. If the pit isn't the forefront the xylo may bring too much focus away from what's going on on the field. Plus, any "cut through" parts can be played on the top end of the marimba with some extremely hard mallets.

Probably justifying, but makes sense to me.

the simple solotion would be for to play with the correct dynamics or get a louder horn section =P haha but really you should keep them in they add a great tone to the front ensamble i couldnt imagine one without it.

Listen to Crossmen 2002. We used a xylophone for two measures throughout the entire show. It wasn't missed.

Xylo and bells and such fell into the "all pits have" area, sorry I wasn't clear.
