Well, when im at home I use my old school Remo "Weather King". When im on the go, I occasionally use my double sided real feel, just to keep it quiet. But normally I forget to bring the real feel, and I end up playing on the bottom of my shoes. It works wonders.

Mobile Practice pads.

I have the Xymox pad too. I also love it. Is yours the Ralph Hardimon version? If so, I've used mine enough that some of the padding on the top is starting to peel? It that happening to you also?

I also have the Xymox pad and I also love it as well. So do all of my fellow percussionists who try to play on it as much as they can. hahaha
The most common pad with percussionists in my school are the 12" double sided Vic Firth practice pad which I also have and love as well. I'd say I probably prefer the double-sided one over my Xymox but I tend to play on my Xymox more because... well hell, it just sounds cooler.

I prefer the real feel 8" double sided pad. Great feel and its nice and small and fits in your backpack.
