Here is the problem. I am in the Percussion ensemble at Tarpon high. Were gonna do WGI next year. When we first competed in 2003 we scored second in PSCW and we set a name for ourselves. In 2005 we went again and scored 5th. A dissapointment to me. I want to be able to go into WGI and Remake our name in the competition as the best. Our group has been slacking off greatly and if we dont step up then we have no chance of even doing decent the next year. We have tried talking to the group but it goes in one ear and out the other. Weve showed them the '03 show as an example of what we once were but no one even cared. When we asked them what was wrong and why they dont try they said that the excercises and practises that we do are boring and pointless. We tried shaking it up a bit adding different elements like dynamics into boring exercises trying to make it better but it just made them goof off more and not work at all. My concern is that the group will not continue to improve and we will put the name the alumni made for us to shame.
What can i do or say to inspire the group to want to become better and actually try harder? What will motivate them?
I appreciate any advice i can get.
