Has anyone said why they keep saying no? If not, you should ask. Maybe they have a reason that you haven't thought of. Either way I would say sit down with the section and talk about it. Tell them that you would like to play some new stuff and see what they say. If they turn you down, find out why. If you can't reach an agreement, you can always just play some new stuff on your own. Maybe they'll hear it and think it's not so bad. Good luck!

I agree with drummergirl. Also, try to motivate them with inspiring prep talks to get them fired up for big competitions. The drumline needs to be pushed by giving them challenging pieces to get them ready for the college level.

The big thing is to find out why they don't want to play anything new or challenging. I'd still suggest a big section talk. Get some reasons behind their thinking and then go from there. Unfortunately, you can't make people do what they don't want to do! Especially if they're in the majority in the section. Just challenge yourself and do the best you can. You can't make them want to take it to the college level. Do your thing, keep improving your playing level and hopefully it will rub off on them.
