What are some good ways to motivate new freshmen? Ex. in our pit there are no Seniors, so myself and one other junior are the Pit Captains, and almost 1/2 the pit is new freshmen. What are some ways to get them motivated?

Marimbaman 1989, welcome to DLO. Hope you enjoy your stay. I know you saw the motivation forum and posted your question here, which I commend you for. However, in case you have missed it, there is a whole series of posts in the Motivation forum relating to, you guessed it, Motivation. Take a look at some of these, as they might help you out and answer probably 80% of your questions

Also, whilst browsing this tubular tome of tenacious knowledge known as DLO, just take a minute to make sure you look at the rules, FAQs and search buttons. These will make your stay here comfortable, enjoyable, and an overall great experience.

We hope you enjoy your time and thank you for flying DLO air.

It's all good.

No harm, no foul. Next time, however, there will be bloodshed.

one thing i do is ask for there opinion on some stuff so that way they feel included in the drumline make them really feel apart from it. i like to get people to stand out in different ways so that way everyone is unique and all can get to know each other and have fun doing it.

One way youd be able to motivate them is by showing them how cool it is to be good. Show them that your having a great time when your playing and they will follow you.

Meh, we're having the same problem on our line... We have 3 seniors, 4 juniors, 1 sophomore (me), and 1 freshmen. All the people in grade 10+ are really really close with each other, like family, but our freshman is just like... "Yeah I'm on the drumline I don't care and I think it's stupid"
