I played bass for two years and before my junior year my instrutor came to me and commanded me to play tenors. You just don't say no to that woman.

I just loved the rhythmic and melodic possibilities.

The idea of playing the harmonic and medlodic set of the drumlines. The Ritualistic Idea that the bass holds it all together, and the Snares add the accents is what got me into it all... but it was the melodic groove that the Multi-Tenors created.. It is what made the chart musical... It is what makes a Cadence flavorful. The snare was fun until it got too boring.. There was only one sound.. two max if wanted.(Unless you have Dynasty. Then it's three.) With Multi-tenors there are endless possibilities.. a hit, center-hit, rim shot, gawk, ping shot. All are different sounds on all differents drums and could all be used in different ways to make one peice of music change into a completely different sound... That is why I chose Tenors...

What made me want to play tenor drum, tom-toms, trios, quads, quints, sextets was the sound for one. At the first DCI show I went to, I saw the SCVanguard warm up and they played Double Beat 2004 (for this was in 2004), and the quad parts just moved me. Also I like they way they look when they're on a stand. (?)

Well...what 4drum said It's more challenging for me. I'm still learning big time. I started playing tenors in 2005. I played toms before that, but it was a totaly different style, very not drumcorps stylish. Our band switched to drumcorps style, and they wanted to have tenors too. I saw a lot of drumcorps stuff, and tenors have always been my favorite. It's a great instrument to play, without it...drumlines are just not fun :P

My reasons were mostly the same as others. Endless possibillities with scraps (err scrapes as posted below lol), and pretty much watching other great tenor players/DCI lines play with such composure.

I never wanted endless scraps. I got enough junk at my house as it is. I did like the idea of scrapes though.
