I remember when I first started i didn't know crap about drumming. This was in seventh grade, where we didn't play in the drumline until the end of the tear pep rally. A guy on tenors taught us how to play the snare part but once I saw him play the part on tenors, i wanted to play. The next year, I was stuck on snare, but I crappy kid cried to his mother, who then convinced the band director to move him from cymbals to bass. I was mad, but eventually, I just ended up taking the crappy set of quads home. Now I'm not as good as I want to be, but I'm on my third year now, and I'm happy. (That same crappy kid is also on the line this year, but his last chair, moving up from cymbals.)

It simply was the music the tenor line had my freshman year. There were three seniors and one junior (the junior the best of them both), and their music rivaled that of drum corps material. No lies there. That got me started. Then I saw Tim Jackson's '06 solo. After that, I sold my soul to the tenors (honestly, who wouldn't after that). I actually feel more comfortable with traditional, but due to a bad broken bone my 8th grade year, I don't have enough turn in my left wrist to play even 6 inches off the drum (even with P.T.). So I tried out for quads, and made third chair (soph). Junior (current) year I became caption leader, and as of now I am working on material for the '09 season of DCI with either Cavaliers or Bluecoats. My H.S. uses quints. and hopefully everyone here knows cavies and bluecoats use six-packs
