I'm a sophmore down here in Texas and I need help. Our line was once the most feared highschool drumlines in the area, but now it just sucks. I wasn't actually part of the line in it's prime, but still, I would like to get it back to it's status. This year I'm still a "lowly" sophmore, but next year all the good players, save for a lazy one, is going off to college. I'm told that I'm supposed to take over by snugglebunny of the seniors... I would just like some tips on how to handle this.

Make drumline FUN for them. My line does all sorts of stuff as a group outside of practice too. We go paintballing, do lazertag, go to the mall. All those "bonding" activities. Then crack down on discipline. Develop a system. For instance, my bass line is given 5 pushups for everytime they talk during practices.

Do you remember what certain "characteristics" your line had back when they were so mighty? My line has quite the reputation for being really good. We do all sorts of crazy things to remind people how good we are. Even if we don't play well that night, we sure do look intimidating marching in a block with everyone staring straight forward, completely focused.

Charateristics? Well, we would take drumline contest by storm, being treated as gods and playing just as well. We would stand out in the rain just to practice standing at attention for over 3 hours. Did the same at contest. We could have even been considered drumcorp status.

And by we, I mean the sophmores, juniors and seniors on the line before this year.

I know what you mean we use to be really good ourselves but now we suck because of certain people. Everyone on the line hates these 2. There lazy and blame everyone else for their problems. And there not even that good. But they think they are. I tried bonding with them but they really are stupid. But i just kept thinking ITS FOR THE LINE. so whenever you bond with them but don't want to think ITS FOR THE LINE.
