I have found that the Ralph Hardimons vary in weight a lot. I like the ScoJo's, but those are just as beefy. Would the Ralphie Jr. be too small for your line?

My favorite sticks are the Aungst outdors. That's just because there heavier, and make you work to play the music.

Hardimon indoor sticks are great, I also felt a great pair of McNutt sticks recently.
The Queen solo stick is really fun to play with.
The Stevens tenor stick from Pro-Mark feels great.
My favorite IP stick is the Rennick.
I usually just go through everything at the store until I find a pair that feels great.

It is possible to get a bad pair. Sticks are VERY inconsistant because wood is inconsistant.
We all have wasted our money on a pair of sticks because they are warped, mismatched, light, or funny sounding. You can't blame the type of stick though, it's probably just that pair.
