Just for kicks, what are the exercises you guys rehearse in drumline?

Some of ours are:

1) 8 on a hand
2) Accent Tap
3) WD-Waltz (combo of WD-40 and our triplet exercise)
4) Cadets double-beat
5) Digga Digga Burr

Alright the main 5 exercises my drumline plays are:
1)8's(5 different patterns
2)double beat
3)boston(triplet accent exercise)
4)15/16(sixteenth accent exercise)
5)sixteenth timing
We play a bunch of different exercises besides those such as triplet diddle, funky chims, and 4-2-1 grid but just not as frequently. Like we start with 8's every single day and almost always follow it with double beat and boston.

You guys don't play accent tap! You should because that's like your main exercise for stick heights

Dude, if you need some new ones just make some up or steal some stuff from other people or make some corps exercises easier. If that is seriously all that you play then you definitely need some more. Your practices must be boring as heck.

Our practices aren't boring, we don't only play warm ups.

All of our exercises were pretty long, since our instructor believes that exercises should be like music (the Murray Gusseck approach). Trying to play the exercises made us a lot better at the music, even if we'd sound terrible warming up at times.

SCV Stick Control
Triplet Accents (quick singles, accent&tap)
Zeppelin Diddles (Paradiddles, based on "When the Levee Breaks")
Flamteen (Sounds like SCV's "Thirteen" except with a flam pattern for the upper battery)
Space and Time (a trippy single-strokes exercise that's very demanding mentally... a lot of rests and dynamics... in 3/4)
Trips and Dids (very long triplet rolls exercise that breaks down the triplet partials for each hand with a one height segment and an accent-tap segment)

What about in between seasons when you don't have any music to play? What do you play then?

I always try to include the following:

1) Legatos (8s, 12s or 16s depending on the skill level of the line)
2) Legatos at various dynamics (p, mp, mf, f, ff) for stick heights
3)Tap-Accent
4) Double beat
5)Chicken and a Roll/Diga-Diga-Bur or some diddle/roll building

I think 1,3,4 and 5 are essential.

we have a cavaliers triplet warmup, and a bluecoat's warmup. The bluecoats is kinda a remix of hand on a hand.

last year for winter drumline ours included:

1)Eights (but with crazy stickings like 8-6-7-9-9-7-6-8 or something like that) this also included 2 versions of accent taps.
2)Ping Pong Chop suey ( A flam exercise with a nice groove)
3)Drunken Double Step ( a very complex double beat that was quite difficult)
4)16th note diddle ( basic 16th notes with diddles that worked double 32nds on a hand.)

And I think that was it. We didn't really play any triplets in our show last year so we didn't use a triplet diddle.

we have an excercise at my school and its initially the first part of the USC cadence sequence. for snare and tenor its primarily single strokes and doubles but its a really good chop builder when taken at faster tempi. its also really easy to learn, i arranged the first part merely by listening to it and watching the vids
