Phantom Regiment Bass Drum Tuning?

Hi everyone. I searched all over but couldn't find this. I really like Phantom's bass drum tuning from 2003 to 2006 and I'm trying to figure out how they got those sounds. I know last year they used the new Powermax heads on their Pearl drums. Does anyone know if they they added any additional muffling, and if so, what did they do?

As far as the last few years, I'm not sure, but the bass tech this year (not Brian - his name's John, he's new to staff but aged out from the Regiment in '05) muffled the drums using standard insulating foam, various thicknesses for the different drums. I'm not sure exactly what the thicknesses per drum are, but the foam was glued to the inside of the shell so that it was in contact with the head but not putting any pressure on it. I can't remember what kind of foam it was, but I can ask John the next time I see him... Probably the 19th, in Dallas...
