No, on most metronomes there's a dial or a button, and when you hit that button once or move the dial one click, it goes up 3 to 5 BPMs. That's what I meant, not 1 BPM, I don't know anyone with that kind of patience.

At first when I started playing keyboard instruments, I had the same problem. I couldn't hit the right notes at all. But gradually, I got more and more familiar with the instrument, and through slow practice, and many people here have said, you get a lot better. Go through basic exercises, scales will help, I agree. Just keep practicing!

I would have to agree with scales as well, they are the rudiments of mallet playing.Do different things with scales, such as rolls, doubles, chromatic, ect. If you get bored with major then learn minor. Also find a simple peace to play, it can help you. I would recommend one of the Bach inventions. They are fun to play, give a challenge to some younger musicians, and they make a good audition piece for college.
