As far as building the chops, I would do lots of double beat exercises at varying tempos. As you know, fours are just sixteenth notes for each hand. My speculation is that your chops are fine, the notes just aren't lining up right-- and that's the hardest part. If you get tired of doing double beat exercises, do some fours on every upbeat for a long period of time and 'drive' them to the downbeat, striving for consistency in every note (obviously concentrating on your left hand). That's what my instructor told me and it has seemed to help.

Well other than the fact that bass drum is vertical, you're still most likely playing a matched grip. So essentially you can practice your bass parts with matched grip on a pad, of which you can just say you're playing snare with matched grip. snarescience has a misleading name, we have a couple of people who are tenor players that go to the website for exercises they'd other wise play on tenors. I'm a bass player, and I'm the forum moderator!

as for getting your left up to your right hand, I'm going to answer your question with another question....How did your right hand get to where it is? Just do a lot of stuff left handed. The heavy hitter bass pad works good for technique but don't rely on it for chops, you must use a lot of your free time on an ACTUAL bass if you can! Nothing can replace the feel of a drum.

I can't really make any criticisms or compliments to your playing as it doesn't really focus on you (I did kind of skip around and didn't watch the whole thing, sorry)

An immediate thought would be "Stick Control" by Stone. If you can work those exercises up to tempo, and still play with control and good technique, that's 9/10's of the battle. Ensure that even at tempo, with more advanced patterns, that you are not altering your technique. Also, remember that at higher tempos, your fulcrum point moves further back in your hand, and you must have all of you fingers contributing to what you're attempting to play.

Hope this helped!

Two words for you: THREE CAMPS!

It helps you work on your taps, diddles and drags for increased finger control.

I've been having the bassline work on it pow-wow style when they're in percussion class. Start off nice and easy at first to get the rhythmic patterns down and stay relaxed (Initial Tempo=90). Then increase the tempo--while staying RELAXED--up to 140 beats per minute (bpm) and avoid any added tension. Let the camps flow through your fingers as you power a bit of arm and wrist into the exercise.

Check it out for yourself:
http://www.snarescience.com/exercises/three-camps.pdf

NOTE: Play this "barebones" version of the original exercise and then be sure to turn every note-head between the accents into diddles. That way you have the original exercise! smile
