Oh, how I would love to march my slim pad. Has anyone here given this any thought?

lol, yes i have thought of rigging up a pad stand to a harness, but i'd rather just put it on top of a drum

I've definitely given it thought and if I really wanted to, I'm sure I could find a way to do it. I don't really have that much of a desire to do it so I'd rather just throw it on top of my snare. Plus, having it on a snare lets you practice marching with the weight on your shoulders.

Very true, but it'd be nice to be able to practice my marching over the summer, while I'm not allowed to bring home my drum.

If anyone has some plausible ideas, let me know. I will do it >:D

I actually saw an ad about a company that developed marching snare pads, I checked it out..basically you just gotta get a harness and hook it onto a "plate" thats the shape of your pad and put the pad on there and play like that. Im sure there are ways to drive a harness straight into your pad though, never tried it though.

I've seen that. Absolutely no. The "pad" looks like a square of wood with a piece of rubber slapped on it.

Point taken, but look how much they're charging for it. I could easily build my own.

Buy the tilters attached to your drums and screw them onto your pad and voila

i've seen an ad of a marching snare pad too. i think it's made by Roland. There's a met on it too.

They sell plates that attatch to any j-bar carriers and then you just throw your pad on there and play. They're a little too spendy for me though. :p

Umm instead of trying to attach the pad to a carrier you could always just use a drum stand, just a thought. Unless you plan on marching drill around your living room while playing on the pad. If that's the case by all means attach that sucker to a carrier.

Anyway, an indoor line marched snare pads for a section of there show, I dont rememeber what year but it may have been Project. someone let me know if that's right or not. So it has definitely been thought of and executed.

I would work on seeing if you can borrow the drum. Most instructors/band directors will allow it, especially if it means you putting in practice time at home. If getting the drum is truly impossible, then I think marching the pad is a fantastic idea. If every kid in my drumline was motivated enough to pratice marching with a pad at home, I'd be a happy instructor. I don't really have any ideas that don't involve welding or at least some serious carpentry.
