And another virtual drumline question

Ok, so i have virtual drumline which on the box says it is supposed to have the sounds from virtual drumline 1 as well as the sounds from virtual drumline 2.5 (or atleast that's what it sounded like to me as they have snare line vdl1 and then something like snare line manual lite on there) however the vdl 1 sounds are just like the vdl 2.5 sounds. here is my question: I have checked this site and the forums at tapspace, and have found nothing, so is there a LEGAL way to get the virtual drumline 1 samples loaded into virtual drumline 2.5? I hope this question makes sense to someone out there, because i am really interested in finding these samples ( in a legal way ofcourse )

Why do you need the VDL 1 samples? Every sound that was in VDL 1 is included with VDL 2.5, just re-recorded.

No company that I know of still has VDL 1. Remember, that software is over 3 years old and hasn't been officially supported in 2 years.

Somewhat on topic: Why is VDL so expensive?! It's $200 for a bunch of sound files I understand that they are of very high quality and that there are quite a few sounds, but couldn't they sell a 'lite' version with just the snare, bass, tenor, and cymbal sounds? I mean, I want my cadences to sound pretty on the computer but I just dont think it's worth 200. Comments?

yeah. You don't have to have all the extra stuff, like jam blocks, etc. All a lot of people want is just basic soundfonts.
they could make a demo too, like a 30 day demo, at the end of which, the stop working

You think $200 is expensive? You really need to look at more sound libraries. I've got one that I bought that cost over $3,000.
If you think about the time and effort that went in to making VDL 2, factor in the editing time, the time spent recording the samples, the rehearsal time SCV was giving up to record, the amount of programming time, etc, you wouldn't think that $200 is expensive.
I was there when Jim first realized how many samples were used in VDL 2. I don't remember the exact number, but it is over 17,000. This is not some dinky library, this is a big library (not huge, there are many that are far larger).
Remember also, that Tapspace has to pay Native Instruments a portion of each copy that they sell for the rights to use the Kontakt Player.

Still, Finale costs 3 times as much as VDL, and they have a 30 day demo.

However, someone who wants to make a 30-day trial of Finale last forever has to know a fairly good deal. Someone who wants to rip off a fully-functional set of samples during a 30-day trial only needs some basic, free programs and enough time to deal with all the samples.

I think VDL is one of the best deals around to be quite honest. I have owned all the versions of VDL at some point. A truly great program with wonderful support. Best money I ever spent for sure.

If you want a VDL "lite" version, purchase the new Finale or Sibelius. I'm pretty sure a "Basic" version of the sounds are included in there, right Bill?

Yep, Rowl-off will be the default included in the softsynth sounds, unless I'm just horridly wrong, while VDL will be like the Garritan Sounds currently in use (i.e. accessed through Kontakt or a similar plug-in).
