When I ordered my tenor pad (this was a good time ago) no laminates came with it but I think they may have been already attached. I have never gotten any laminates before and I was just wondering how someone who doesn't know what the laminates are like could tell the difference between having them and not having them. I am interested in finding out whether or not I have them and if I dont, then I would go buy some.

Thanks I searched for this but I couldn't find what they looked like on the drums or how I could tell the difference. Everyone just talks about everything else about the pad and not what I was looking for.

Thanks

well first we need to know what you bought. heavyHitters, xymox, ect... because not all pads come with laminates.

second, it would be obvious if they do have the laminates. it would be a plastic film on top of the gum rubber. if you can feel the rubber. you don't have the laminates

with the laminates the pads respond more like a drum. so if thats what you are looking for, go for it. but they will be louder. just keep that in mind.

exactly what multi said, they will be snugglebunny louder with laminates and more realistic.

If your pad does not come with laminates, make that your next purchase. They will make the feel of the pad more realistic to an actual set of drums.

What gernad said too.

Laminates are a must for the heavy hitter pad, without them the rubber-ness of the pad will slow down your scrapes like no other. Yes with the laminates the pad will be louder but it is a good trade. I would rather have a pad that is realistic and loud, than a unrealistic quiet one.

Although, I know everyone's real dream is to own an actual set of quads. Nothing better than the real thing. But really, the laminates make a world of a difference.

the only gripe i have is once you takes them off you cant really reuse the glue and you need a new adhesive

if you can do scrapes easily you probably have laminates
if you cant you probably dont

my quadropad came with laminates and they make the pad feel more realistic. i think the price for them varies with each company.
