All the preshman last season got bass or cymbals. There was 1 bass drummer that was there the year before, and says he wouldn't really like to be moved. It may just be because he can tape his music to the part of his drumm closest to his face because he is leagally blind. Real good drummer though

this year, our bass line has:

1:sophomore(was pit last year)
2:sophomore(was bass 3 last year)
3:empty(was sophomore, but he quit)
4:freshman
5:senior(was pit 2 years then bass 5 last year)

So its not a big thing at my school, the freshman is happy to be on bass, and if we have a big enough line next year he could easily get snare. Of course the dude who quit was mad that he made bass, but only because he worked really hard to get tenors and had his spot taken by a freshman(me ).

i don't know if he is legally blind, but he can't see anytthing unless it's right in front of his eyes. He is real good too. althoug it always funny watching a bass drummer runnin to fundementals block with his drum on.

Show them a video of a DCI bassline. That'll shut 'em up.

@JacketTenor3: There was a blind mellophone player in Gull Lake High School's marching band. He was always inspirational to watch (I believe he graduated last year.) He would march arm-in-arm with another mello player. And, to top it all off, he was good; and that's not sympathy talking. It's really cool to see people with disabilities still performing to their best and not letting it them affect them.

Does anyone else know of any bands that have a handicapable player in it?

We had a blind snare drummer in one of the bands around us. . .he was the only snare not to tick out of 5, including staying on step and hitting all his drill. Maybe I should start blindfolding myself?
