I plan on marching snare in troopers in 2 years, and i was just wondering what rudiments I should work on, and if you post music I'll love you forever.

All of them, plus the common hybrids like flam fives, book reports, grandmas, etc. You should be able to play any of them like they're second nature, off either the right or left hand.

I don't know if the Troopers make their audition packet freely available, but you can contact them and ask. You can also find some other corps' packets online, which might help you get an idea of what to expect.

Rudimental Logic by Bill Bachman covers exactly what you need to learn (common standard rudiments and hybrids), plus gives a good overview on technique and has some cool exercises and stuff.

Check out vic firth's website they have a rudiment section with exercises and tempos to practice them at.

There is a hybrid rudiment book here on the forums, Ratamaswiss made it I'm pretty sure. Look at that, get your big hybrids down along with ALL the standard rudiments.

Common Hybrids I constantly hear about are the grandma, the book report, the cheese, the fivelet, ect, start working on those too, along with all the standard. As skydogg said, make them second nature, and play them off the right or the left and your golden.

just a little add in but i have been workin on my rudiments using the vic firth page

but anyways what i've been doing is i'll select a category of rudiments..
roll, flam, paradiddle, single stroke, drag

and i've basically said i won't rest til i can do every rudiment in this category at atleast platinum (my personal standard). so after that i've just been goin go down the list of rudiments in that category and practicing a specific rudiment until i have met platinum. and then move on to the next rudiment and so on

so basically what im sayin is develop a system that works for you as i have done and stick to it

Ohhh, Also, if your talking about marching snare, you might want to start doing this all traditional. Duh, I know, but seriously, If you play bass, and you played tenors, you've played matched, probably all of your life.

Start building traditional chops now, Traditional is a whole new ball game, 2 years of good trad. technique and training under your belt will help a ton

I already have a post about that in the practice section, I think I'll just get my old private lesson teacher back.

As somebody said about snares being used to matched, I say vice versa too. A lot of quad players I know play traditional when playing on one drum for some reason. That won't help directly if you're playing quads (but of course in marching percussion knowledge is related, knowing more never hurt). Jeff Queen's book, Bill Bachman's book, and Matt Savage's book are all very good.
