So, I am planning on auditioning for a drumcorp the 2010 season. I'm hopefully going to march tenors, And like all corps I know, the glassmen march big blocks. We use small blocks at my highschool, no spocks, typical highschool setup.

My BD lets me use a set of tenors at home to practice, And I'm attempting to get as good as I can on the set, scrapes, crossovers, basic playing technique, ect. How much of a diffrence will a set of small block tenors make when attempting to audition for a corp? I don't want to start practicing on a small block, and later find I'm going to have a hell of a time trying to get used to a big block at auditions.

So, Am I fine practicing the way I am, on a set of small block tenors from school, Or would it be a better option to buy a large quadropad?

The large Quadropad will probably be the better option.

The move from small blocks to big blocks is fairly easy. You'll hit some rims at first, but after a little bit of time you'll find that it's actually much easier to move about the drums, because you aren't as confined.

Going back to small blocks after you've gotten used to large block tenors, however, is a dog.

A small block set with no spock isn't going to be as useful as a large pad with spock(s).
