ok so at my school we are having a problem on how to set up the pit..
so we have 8 people in pit but in second movement the battery gose to pit and makes it 19 people. so i need to come up with a set up that when the battery isnt in that all 8 people can listen in and play together.

in the first and third movments there are:
2 marimbas
2 vibes
1 xylo
1 bell
1 tymp
1 rack (chimes,cymbals,toms,bass drum,tama,gong etc.)

In the second movement with battery in the pit:
4 marimbas
3 vibes
2 xylos
1 bell
1 tymp
2 rack (chimes,cymbals,toms,bass drum,tama,gong etc.)

i was thinking one of these setups but idk..

Quick question - are the xylos playing the lead melody in movement 2?

The way I'd do it is like the keyboard "choir" setup with the dedicated pitsters playing in the center boards and the battery coming in on the ends during the 2nd movement. That's probably the easiest way to do it if you all you're really worried about is listening in. Rack and timp - you can place those as you see fit. Something like this:

(where timp sits on the 50 and the racks are spaced appropriately behind the keys)
