I have written show parts for what you are describing, but I have never attempted a cadence. I would suggest using a drumset type of feel for a section of the cadence, that way you can have both voices incorporated. Also, split voice rolls should work pretty well and be easier to pull off since it is not really a split. I would suggest laying down a bass groove then adding a snare part over the top. Next, drop the snare part, and a tenor lick over it. Finally, combine all three. This will require writing a snare and tenor part that compliment each other but are not necessarily the same, and require splitting parts (which you mentioned already).
Just out of curiosity, what kind of 10" snare did you use and are you trying to get a "marching snare" sound. Also, what is the size of your line (how many of each section)

We are using three 10" Yamaha Stage Customs and three Pearl Firecrackers. We would have used all Yamaha Customs but apparently they were discontinued. We are trying to get the best marching snare sound that we can but he haven't really found the sound that we are looking for yet. We are using Evans G2 reverse dot snare heads on the snares. We have six people on the snenor line and 5 basses. We have around 200 people overall in our band. Thanks

Hey - my corps (World Gone Mad) has been using a hybrid setup for almost three years now. We mounted 10" Pearl Firecracker snares to 10-12-13-14 quads. I use the stock snare side head and added Remo Pinstripe Crimplock heads to the top. That lets us get a much tighter / higher sound. With the wire snares, it's never going to be confused for a high-tension snare, but it serves our purposes well enough of being close enough for government work. Message me if you'd like more details. Thanks! Mike New Producer - Percussion World Gone Mad Drum and Bugle Corps www.worldgonemad.netOh, and I *have* modified a DCI cadence for this setup before (not performed, but for more of a warmup than anything), so I can assist with ideas / philosophy if you need help with that. Thanks, Mike

I'm confused. Are there snares and "snenors" in place of tenors, or just snenors. Furthermore, what are these snenors?

Yeah, but I wasn't sure if they were getting rid of the snareline or not. Maybe they were just having a snare on the tenors? This doesn't automatically get rid of a snareline.

Yes I read the thread. Yes it says 6 snenors and 5 basses. But, it's still misleading. Is it out of the question for me to be genuinely confused? Apparently it is, and this forum isn't as educational as I once thought.
Also, to whoever said to search it, that's ridiculous. In that post, you could've said oh it's tenors with a snare in place. I didn't go making a new thread.
Anyway. I think a cadence would sound bad if the snare was mixed in the music played just in place of a spock. Splitting it would sound the best in my opinion, but then what's the point in having them in the first place?

Didn't the Cavaliers have snares on some drums one year as an added effect for part of the show? They had snares on one or more of the tenors and still had a snare line. This is probably why I was confused. It might have been an effect.
Either way, I'd rather have snares and tenors rather than just snenors.

Good for you. So how exactly are you helping in this thread?
