From a VERY reliable source the Blue Devils A corps will be switching back to the standard cut tenor shells by the end of the summer. They want "their" sound back.

Also from the same VERY good source, Dynasty is most likely going to offer the tenors in two different shell cuts to cater to people's preferences.

Amen, I don't think they sound bad with the deep cut. but they don't have the bite Dynasty tenors are known for.

BDA defined that sound. Good they are going back that.

I have a set of the BD canyon gray tenors from a few years back and I love them shell on them...its thicker up near the nearing edge and then about 2ish inches down the shell thins out. I dig the wide tuning range it has. I can take them from a very nice BD sound to a more vangaurd like sound. I wish they were still making this model.

Our high school marches deep shell tenors if im not mistaken. Ours weigh about 60lbs not exactly as easy as carrying a pillow around but they get the job done lol.

Not likely. Dynasty drums are the heaviest on the market and the heaviest setup in their catalog (6-8-10-12-13-14) weighs 35.6 pounds. Add maybe a couple of pounds for the custom deep shells.

in Revolution we used the deep shelled quads i particularly liked the sound they gave off, but it was also the tuning and heads used, that is what also will help the sound of any size drum

Dynasty is trying to get more projection from the drums for the outdoor drum corps venues. They are still getting the kinks out and will do some more "tinkering" before deciding what to market. The front was lowered farther than the back of the shell and it wasn't exactly "right". More info to come.

And the added weight will be only a pound or two. the shells are only a fraction of an inch longer on drums 13-14. The hardware, mounting bar, etc. will all be the same.
