Hey, everyone - I need some advice.

We're using XL sextet Omnirails with our toms, and when I assembled them, I did it exactly as the included drilling template said. When the set was assembled, the crossbar is about 2-3 inches away from the #1 / #2 drums.

On their website, though, the bar is right up against them:

But because the attachment points on the #3 / #4 drums come slightly tilted forward, I can't think of any easy way to move the hardware.

Has anyone else messed with these things, or found a way to get around that? I tried asking a few drum corps with no success, and XL, while helpful on other technical issues, didn't really have advice to offer on this one.

Thanks!

Mike New

(P.S. If you look at that picture on XL's website, doesn't it look like the #3 / #4 attach points aren't level with each other? How in the world did they do that - the Omnirails come with them evenly spaced: http://www.xlspec.com/images/product_thumbnails/omnirail2.jpg )

I've only seen the five-drum OmniRail, and that's not gonna help here.

Is the width of the six-drum rail adjustable? I can't tell, but it looks like it might be from the pic on XL's site. If so, widening the rail should bring the #1 and #2 drums closer.

What size are your drums?

And would it be possible to post better pictures than what's on XL's site? (It's hard to see detail.)

The width is adjustable, but I drilled the drums according to the template XL sent along with it. I guess I could redrill if necessary - widen the rail and then bring the drums in - I was hoping there was just a hardware adjustment / fix for it, though. smile

(Our drums are 10-12-13-14, for the record.)

Only advice I can give is don't drill too much, but you probably already know that. Sorry I can't give anything useful.
