My band director and I wanted to start one but both of our gyms are taken up all thru the year and there is no way to do it. It ticks both of us off because he is a drummer also. We also thought about combining my drumline and our rival drumline which is extremly small and only 1 real drummer and using there gym or something but, theres is taken up to. I just hope one day I can actually do winterline.

We were going to have a winter drumline for our whole parish(county) and have people try out for the parts and have the best players on the drumline. But our instructor who set a date and evrything didn't go through with it. Some of our seniors turned canceled their corps tryouts to do this drumline too. So now maybe our school might do one, but I guess its to late.

We have a winter drumline, but it is for anyone who wants to do it. We have 2 saxophones on bass 3 and 4, and a clarinet and flute in the pit. We don't have a flag line, but something that the color guard instructor sets up just to try and recruit more people into the guard.

My school's "line" consists of 3 snares, 1 quads, 4 basses, and 1 cymbals. Winter pep bands are nothin special, we don't even have tris at half the games. One of our snares never practices and isn't good enough to sell it, cymbals is afraid to hit em hard, basses are "special" and can't keep a fast beat, and our current tris player doesnt play loud enough either. I don't want to sound whiney, but I wish they would get good enough so we can do something cool.

yea we have a winter drumline and winter guard.

winterline is a ton of fun, it's all about the percussion section..no brass, no woodwinds, just us. it's great.

We have tried to do this every year I have been here, and we have never been able to pull it off. It's always due to lack of players and low talent. Our mallet percussion is not strong here, and so there's really no one for the pit, and you simply can NOT take the stage in indoor with little to no front ensemble, especially at our skill level. We depend heavily on mallets and guitar or bass for our musicality, and not having them would simply kill us.

I've only have 6-10 people in the line at all for the last 2 years. That's not enough to do it well. Factor in that many of my kids never heard of rudiments before me, and we would have to rent a practice area since we have nowhere to practice at the school, and it becomes nearly insurmountable.

We also have no budget, and I do not have the time to write a full show. So sadly, until our marching program recovers from the pasting it's taken under the new BD the last few years, it's not going to happen at all.
