hey, i was watchin Greg Jackson's and Calvin Warren's snare solos and i was wondering how to do them and what they are called. In Greg Jackson's, he does this cool thing in the midway part of the vid. It comes after he three-way bacsticks the right hand while the left jus does diddles. In Calvin Warren's he does this weird thing in the last section of his solo right b4 the ending. Its the last stick trick he does. It comes before the single stroke roll. It looks like he's strikin the drum weird too. Can someone please tell me how to do these tricks. Thanks

well, the two tricks are not the same thing. The Calvin Warren thing looks to be some wierd drum stick angle hit. I don't think it is really anything more than that. However, Calvin posts on this board so hopefully he will see this and enlighten us.

Now, the Greg Jackson thing is the claw I THINK. Personally, it is hard for me to tell because of the video angle. If it is the claw then there is a thread in the snare playing forum that explains how to do it. If that isnt what he is doing...I dont know what to tell you.
