Or, you can skip a million steps and go here:

http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp

It installs itself as a printer, and when you want to create a PDF out of ANYTHING that is able to be printed, click file and print and select it as your printer. It will then ask you where you want to save it

yea, cutepdf is the way to go!
The only thing is that you cant combine multiple files to make one PDF (such as a finale file, a word file, some pictures, etc)

If you Adobe Acrobat it should have also come with the adobe distiller, which does the same thing that Cute Pdf does.

How can I save multipule documents (Finale and Word) into one PDF file, like some schools do when they make a drumline book?

You need to embed the fonts into the document. If you don't do that you just get a series of squares and lines where the notes should be.

I don't use CutePDF so I can't really tell you, however, in Adobe Acrobat there is a checkbox option when you "print" the file that lets you select whether or not to embed the fonts. There might be a similar option in CutePDF.

Personally, I use PDF995; All you do is hit 'print' from file, select the pdf995 as default printer, and it prints exactly what's on your screen - whether it's a Word document or a Finale file.

There's a free alternative called PDFCreator which I personally use as a default software printer. It's at sourceforge.net. You can always trust open source programmers to come up with something good every once in a while.

I was wondering why you need it to be a PDF. Why don't you just leave it as a tiff. A tiff is supported by more systems. Is there a different advantage or something.

Not true. More people know how to use PDFs because more software packages are using the PDF to hold help manuals and the corporate world loves PDFs. PDFs are very ubiquitous. I guarantee you'll get more people who know how to use a PDF than how, or what will open a tiff.

I use win2pdf. it converts any file in any program to a pdf. It works like a printer. You choose it as your printer so the image is sent to the program not your actual printer. win2pdf

heres probably the simplest option...get a mac. all new macs come with "print as pdf" as a print option.

in order to make a "book" you would need to use a layout program like quark or adobe indesign.

Ah yes... get a whole new/different computer/OS just so you can make PDFs... makes perfect sense to me!

Nothing spells "simple" like buying an over-priced, non-upgradable computer and learning an entirely different OS.

Very basic, and because of this, it creats PDF files faster than Adobe Acrobat does. Of course, it doesn't have all the extra stuff Adobe has.
