I saw that interview also and wondered the same thing, I think it means to speed the roll up at the end, because that's a common tendency in some players which is why he says you can finall do it in I & E because you wont crap out the line. That's just my guess though its probaly wrong.

Haha in my freshman year on the third song the basses were told to play so quiet that it sounded like "rats peeing on cotton".

We even had RPOC written on our parts. :P

From what I know, ripping the roll is when you don't finish out the roll correctly. It can come from dropping the end of the roll, pushing the end to hard so you speed it up, etc..

What exactly is a rim knock and how does it differ from a cross stick?

Attack - The first note of a piece.

Check - A said piece without rolls or hard rhythms.

Stock - Normal, as written; to go back after changing an exercise: "alright, play the exercise stock. Also, expected: "geeze, best tenors, so stock!"

Apparently - Used to mock anybody that gives directions. Usually not an upperclassmen or director. "Oh, apparently we are doing fundamentals today. Kevin knows!"

Spike and Spock - The high and low respectively, usually 6 or 8 in. drums on a set of sextets.

Ham it up - To walk around out of tempo to no specific drill set. Usually arms are waved and silent taunting takes place.

Those are some my drumline uses.

wow! cool thread. Unfortunately I think pretty much all of the cool drumline sayings have been brought up already.

"taco style"- when the bass section sits down on the floor and plays on the floor using the butt end of the mallets.
