I just got my SALE MANIA 2005 musician's friend catalog, and on page 52, there's some incredible deals! Pulse 357, made by Paiste, 16" and 18" crashes for $29.99 each. I know that its a good deal, but is it good quality? I love paiste, but is this as good a sound as paiste?

also, there are wuhan china's starting at $10.99! Definitely goin' for that one!

i've got three wuhan cymbals - an 8 and 10 inch splash and the china. they are pretty nice. i can't comment on pulse cymbals but i have a pulse piccolo snare that i got for 29.99 that sounds great.

Bleck! I hate Pulse. Although, if you're on a low budget and/or you're a novice at drumset, knock yourself out. And Wuhan chinas.. GODLIKE lol. I should really try to pick up another one for myself. The last one I had broke, but that's because I hit too hard, hehe. Look into the Wuhans.. attempt to stay away from Pulse stuff.

i need a crash that actually has some crown. the ones that came with my set are really crappy and have zero crown, so no resonance.

Is it the best deal as far as cash and quality making an even compromise?

Pulse cymbals are horrible. They sound bad and are pretty bad quality. Most likely if you hit it hard enough, they'll invert. That's what happened when I bought my 1st Pulse drumset that came with Pulse cymbals.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Pulse cymbals are made by Paiste, just under a different name.

And, although I'm an avid supporter of Paiste cymbals, I'll tell you straight-up these Pulse cymbals would be on the top 3 on my lemon-list.
