In order to protect the staff and moderators of Drumlines.org, I have put together the following rights of publication contract for any work concieved of, collected, assembled and/or published under the authority of Drumlines.org.

Anyone who submits whole works or parts of a whole work as a whole or part of any work to be published by Drumlines.org to the staff of Drumlines.org or the organiser(s) of any work to be collected, assembled, and/or published by Drumlines.org has read and agrees to the following (In other words, you agree to the following if you submit something):

1) The following rights are given to the Staff of Drumlines.org (at the time of assembling and/or first publication of the work(s)) and organizing members:

The right to edit, modify, and/or delete any part of a submitted work (whether partial or whole work) at their discretion.
The right to publish and/or disseminate the work(s) (or any part of it) on any fixed medium including but not limited to: paper, audio or computer data tapes, audio or visual data on any form of electronic data storage device, other types of physical mediums; without prior notification to the author(s) of said works.
The rights, privileges and/or modifications included in any change of this policy upon the author(s)'s notification of and agreement to the revised policy.
No work or part of any work will be published for profit by Drumlines.org or any of its staff and/or members without the consent of the original author and/or the owner of the copyright for that work.

2)The following are the rights of anyone who submits their original work or a part of any work to Drumlines.org or any organizing members:

The copyright(s) to any and all original work submitted.
The right to abstain from agreeing to any changes in this policy at a later date.
Any additional rights discussed and agreed upon by both the staff of Drumlines.org and the original author of the work.
Any rights included in modifications and/or additions to this policy upon the reception and agreement to the revised version of this policy. [/list]

Lol...

Basically all it says is:

If you submit something to the site, you give whoever is organizing the project (in the case of the dl.org cadence project going on right now that would be Barry and Kevin) and the staff of drumlines.org permission to publish it (for instance, posting it on the site) as long as they dont make money from it. It also says anyone who submits their own original work still owns the copyrights to it.

Make any more sense now?

Anyway, credit will be given to Drumlines.org, but thats different from copyright . Of course, anyone who has some of their stuff in whatever will also have their name somewhere in the file published.

So say if I contributed two or three original street beats or grooves, my name would be on it somewhere but drumlines.org would be more or less recognized for it?

You will have the copyright on the piece because you wrote it, but it will be distributed through drumlines.org. It is like all of the artists that have solos in the violent ice cream book owning the copyrights, but tapspace distributing the music.

ok i'm a little slow. i have a snare ensemble peice i wrote for a solo and ensemble competition. if i want to post it and get comments or whatever, i need a staff member to get it published and copywrighted and stuff¿ i want it copywrited that would be cool and a distributer even cooler. so would i send it to a staff member and let them handle it or how does that process work exactly¿ it's a 6 page Finale 2003 file. Please let me know, cause i'm interested in posting it.

your making it way too complicated. The copyright is automatically yours because you wrote the piece. The only reason drumlines.org is involved is that we are the ones posting the music on the net for all to view. Basically we are protecting you from having someone steal your music.

All you to do to submit the music is send it to monkeyman@drumlines.org and one of the staff members will post for everyone to enjoy.

moderators are the only ones who can post in the sheet music forum. That keeps people from posting copyrighted music that could get this site in trouble. So, in other words...yes, you need to send it to the monkeyman account.
