I'm from Florida and I was actually in all girl drumline in high school (all girls for one season). That was many years ago. We were pretty good. I've been teaching for a while in Florida, and I've had girls on the lines that I've taught. I don't see what the big deal is personally. If someone (male, female, intersexed) can hack it and has a good attitude, then the person will only be an asset to the entire section and band.

Our drumline has eight members and only two are guys. (On the other hand, our best player is male.) I might just be naive, but I think most drumlines in my area are unbaised towards girls.
By the way, I played tenors last year, and I think most girls would be able to pull it off. I was pretty sore for about the first half of marching season, but anybody who's dedicated and somewhat in-shape could do it.
Somebody said earlier that color guards are usually more sexist than drumlines. I totally agree with that. My school has only had two guard guys ever, as far as I know, and they both had to be really exceptional to make it.

idc if a girl can carry the drum without wussing out im fine with it but if they complain a lot then it just sucks. Our school doesnt allow guy color guard.

We're open to all. Just in the last couple years we've gotten a lot of girls. My freshman year (when i didnt make the line because I didnt hit the drum as confidently as i was supposed to even though i knew the music) there was one girl on the line. Sophomore year: 2 (she and I were on it). Junior year: 4 (we got a freshman and a sophomore). Senior year: 4 (she graduated, the soph. quit, we kept freshman, another soph., and another soph, and me)...whew!

Some of the best are girls. I would never discriminate like that. In our section, we have 3 girls who can play circles around more than half the line.

We only have one girl on our line and she plays snare. And she can hold her own. I attempted to take her snare spot from her this year and she beat me. So...all in all if you got the goods then more power to you

My Higschool has usally had a female player on the line. In fact our section leader is a girl and plays better than every one else on the line. Also our bass 1 and 2 players are girls.
