You should hope not, considering that they're the same drum and that would seriously question the quality and consistency of yamaha products.

If you meant that you can tell the difference between the 6 and the 8, then that's understandable and one would hope so because they're supposed to sound different.

IMO, Pearl gets the vote across the board. There's nothing unnecessary on their products (except the snare covers) and all their drums have a full, yet focused sound.

Yamaha and Dynasty make excellent products, but Pearl is it for me.

Dynasty is not the only company that makes 8 inch spock drums.

Today I played a set of dynasty tenors and holy poop, they were by far the best tenors I've ever played on. Really, you can get all tenors to sound the same or really good, so sound isn't really an issue between Pearl, Yamaha, and Dynasty (for me at least). But the Quality and design of Dynasty tenors surpasses the others by far. What I loved most about them is their rims; their rims are fitted onto the drum so that they barely clear the drumhead (compared to yamaha, who's have the highest rims I've ever played on). Rim hits while sweeping is minimized. I liked Dynasty snares, but I haven't heard too many good things about the snare quality (weird compared to their tenors), so yamaha takes my vote in snares. Pearl gets bass.

Snares: Pearl/Dynasty

Well, Pearl gets the vote for everything. Reasons being
1) Dynastys DO NOT project at all
2) Yamaha tenors are a little to "barky" for me you don't get the resonance you do with Pearl
3) Pearl owns

My Ideal Drumline...

Snares-Pearl (who doesnt love high articulation and sound)

Tenors-Dynasty (they also have good articulation and thet tenor rail is by far a great invention)

Basses-Pearl (High impact, deep, and articulate due to a lot of air holes in them)
