Last year, we had like a 2 minute long drumbreak called "The Battle Scene" in our show, "The Year of the Pirates" and it was totally awesome. We had this rack with cymbals and toms and a plaform on it.. and once the break started the tenors took off their drums and wheeled out the rack which had one of our drum majors and a color gaurd member dueling on the platform while the snares and basses were, well, preparing to fight. And as the snares were playing on the rack, the basses formed a v and they moved in on each other, and the break started gettin a lil more intense and then the snares came out from behind the rack and the basses incircled them and the entire line yells as the basses and snares bring their sticks down on one another as though about to be the crap out of each other... it was fun to play and we got quite a response from the crowd.

Our break last year was OK, not the best music and not good drill. (the drill was written like 3 days before state) It was funny though cuz i was on bass last year, and i had to take like these 45" steps....good times

My freshman year the snares and tenors played while hitting cymbals that were placed on both sides of their heads. Then the pit brought out the trash cand and put it in front of the snares and tenors and we played on the cans and cymbals. It was well cordinated and looked good. The bases also took off their drum after the snare and tenor feature and played a little drum to drum solo. My sophomore year we played Stained Glass as our show and we had a 7 tenor feature. Us snare had to march to the edge of the field and play on the tenors with the other two tenors. My junior year we had a whole movement that was the drum break while the band marched in back of us. The solos were awesome. My senior year we had a solo that was cool we had snugglebunny of back stickings.

since I've been in band, most of our drum features have been park 'n blow. the hornline does some crazy drill while drumline is pretty much still. as far as music goes, it's usually a very percussive piece, with band highlights. last year we did 1,2,3 by Gloria Estefan and that was bout a min and a half to 2 mins and we had 4 measures of solos for each section.
I agree....we did the exact same thing. horns do all the drills and the drumline juss stands still through the WHOLE drill. If lucky we may move up,down left or right every blue moon. Hell....its not even that...we don't even MARK TIME!

The sweetest break was definitely the Cadets break. The guys have mics out on the field and they start singing their solos. (dee dee dut dooda digga doom cack cack etc.) and then afterwards they play the exact solo they just sang. The basses singing their solo was amazing. And the tenors playing their solo was even better. The best drum break i've ever seen Plus the girl leading them around is super hot
