Every year the band director yells at us every day. I talked to a couple seniors and they said it will always be that way. Is it like that at your school?

Maybe thats the way he is...my band director yells at us the band all the time lol we dont take it seriously cause he has a short temper and some kids just push his buttons for fun lol

That's pretty much the way it's going to be. At least thats how it was for me. What was worse for me was that even as a rookie in the drumline, I was one of the more mature and better players and really cared. (Our drumline is like a brotherhood, not a commander/underlings organization) So every Monday morning after a competetion, if something went wrong - I would get yelled at as if it were my fault. He would apologize later and I understood that that is how he was.

7 years later, I'm in my third year of teaching that line.

our bd dont nesisaraly yell at us, but when we are doing bad he tells us that that performance sucked....but when we are doing good he compliments us (....sometimes)

Our band director used to yell at the band all the time during marching band camp. But now hes getting old and hardly yells at all, lol. He gets really mad when we keep messing up, but that should be expected I guess.

although sometimes we often feel like we are about to face the wrath of of director, he usually just screams for awhile to get us to focus and then he goes back to being the mastermind that he is

Hmm, well my band director definately hates percussionist period. He always yells at us to play softer, even when the music says fortisimo... But most of all he hates me, probably because I'm the only one of us that doesn't let him push us around.

Stand up for the little guy. Don't give in to the man!

Our Band director doesnt generally Yell at us until ABSOLUTELY necessary. He talks to us calmly and tells us the circumstnaces and the consequences and lets us choose our fate. It works everytime.

well, i'd say our directors don't like us near as much as they do the woodwinds and brass. i think the reason for that is because they believe that most percussionists just bang on round circly things, which is not even close to what we do. we make music as well you know.

My director has a serious problem with drummers. Anything that happens, it's our fault. Some of the equpiment has gone missing lately, and it's automaticly our fault. Any little thing we do, we get yelled at for. It gets real old real fast.
