Does anyone have any suggestions as to which warmups and/or exercises can help develop doubles/double stroke roll on bass? If so, could you possibly provide some subdivisons?

You could also do some of the excersise= 2 beats of 16ths then 2 beats of roll, repeat, then 4 beats of 16ths then 4 beats of roll. At my school, we call it "chicken in a bowl".

For a basic pattern just work with this

Do the pattern with your right hand once, then with your left and repeat. this is a very basic double exercise but it works.

For my line I use good ole' Double Beat, and I also have an excercise we played at Illinois called Prelude to a roll. Prelude takes the doubles from Double Beat and expands on that to play a alternating doubles very openly. PM me and I'll email it to you.

Usually, things that work for snares also work for basses. Any double beat pattern works. We have a specific double beat pattern that pretty much works like the one Bismark used, but it has a couple of tweaks to it. Just find what works for your line.

To get stong double out of a bass, I've used inverted rolls. It's an excercise that emphazizes the second beat of a double stroke rolls. It really helps to pull the sound out of the bass so you can have meaty rolls.
