Yes, I searched.

I come from an Ohio State/Ohio University wannabe highschool marching band. Our shows are 15 sets max. with the percussion section marking time nearly the whole time.

I was outside today practicing and I went to march forward and realized that I have no idea how to march. We march 8-5 chair step (it's more of a low step with our drums on) and that's all I've been exposed to. Could someone please just give me a crash course of sorts on how to march how most drum corps do? Yeah, it sounds corny, but I need the help.

Its sort of Hard to explain how to march over the internet. But just get one of the upperclassmen on drumline to go out and teach you the basics before/after practcie. Thats what I do to some of the newbees.

We march 8 to 5 chair step and I'm the section leader, so there's noone to help me out. I've just been so concentrated on the playing aspect, I've forgotten about marching.

roll step? its pretty simple, high toes, straight legs on the down beat, push with your hams. then there are differnt interps of it, some places try to mimmick the motion of a bicycle pedal, other places try to keep as straight of a leg as possible. but before trying to implement it, you should find someone in your area that knows a little aboutit and can show you. in fact you could even try out for a drum corps in your area. most do a basics block the first camp.

When I have time, I'll get you a little something to ease your troubles. It's a website with techniques on how to march. It'll have to wait until tonight, hopefully. But yeah, it teaches you the basics of roll-stepping, crabbing, backwards, Jazz-stepping. It's pretty cool. Helped me out.

Again, I'll get it soon as I can for you.
