I have a sef Premier HTS tenors and am going to get a stand for them. However I don't know which one to get. I have placed an order for a "Stik" speciality stand. But should I be getting a Pearl of Yamaha one or what? I can't find a Premier one anywhere. Will I need to get adaptors to fit the Premier HTS. I think the J bars are different widths then some stands . Can anyone help please?!!?

If you're going to shell out all sorts of money for a stand, get a Dynasty stand, they are by far the strongest stands on the market. They might look weak in the pictures, believe me, I thought they did. But when we got our snare stands, I was amazed. They are built like tanks and they can and will fit any set of tenors that is out today.

My school is incrediably cheap on stuff like that. The tenors player before me would put the drums up on two chair-backs between the 4-2 and 1-3s. I ghetto rigged a cymbal stand into a tenor stand by having it feed through a hole in the frame and tightening so it doesn't tip. It works great for flat-ground playing, but its not bleacher-friendly enough for use in the stands. I usually just suck it up, be a man, and wear them till im used to the weight. Not so bad.

PS- wearing your tenors on the carrier as much as you can not only strengthens your body for carrying them, but it gets your muscle memory working so the rim police won't be after you.

That's true but when you get older, the back police will get to you, if you know what I'm talking about. Try and get your director to invest in a good set of stands that are actually made for tenors and use them for indoor rehearsals where carrying them wouldn't make sense. Your back will thank you in the long run.

would a Dynasty stand work with Premier? i'm not sure but i don't think that all of the j-hook diameters are standard, Dynasty's could be bigger than Premier.

I think the diameter of J-hooks are pretty much universal because when our line got a new set of Dynasty drums the Squints bent the J-bars within the first couple of weeks and we used the J-bars off of our old Pearl sets until a new set of bars came in. The bars were to short but fit good on the frame.

All Dynasty stands fit all marching drums. the J bar hooks adjust to any width you need.
